REDDING, Calif. – The Bushnell men's basketball team was knocked off by Simpson University for just the fourth time in school history as the Redhawks won the first game of their own tournament, 90-75.
Simpson (3-5) was victorious over the Beacons for the second year in a row after winning in overtime last season, giving Bushnell a 17-4 lead in the all-time series. who leads the all-time series, 17-4.
Bushnell shot 43% from the field in the game while the Redhawks hit at a 53% clip. The Beacons were out-rebounded 35-30, but played a relatively clean game with just six turnovers.
Leading the way for Bushnell (2-4) was
Kaleb Burnett, scoring 17 points.
Cam Berry came off the bench to score 12 and
Squeeky Johnson hit a trio of three-pointers, finishing with 11 points.
Roy Bunn contributed nine points and three assists while
Cory Johnson scored six points with a game-high eight rebounds.
The Redhawks were led by Nian Allen, scoring 31 points, shooting 13-for-21 from the field, while Timothy Parker added 17 and a team-high seven rebounds.
