INDEPENDENCE, Ore. – The Bushnell men's cross country team got a look at the course for the upcoming CCC championships on Saturday as they competed at Oak Knoll Golf Course at the George Oja Invitational, hosted by Linfield University.
Â
A massive 402-runner field awaited the Beacons, who finished the race in 31st place. Bushnell was seventh among teams from the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
Â
Leading the way for the Beacons was a junior
Logan Gant, who finished the 8000-meter race in 27:20.50 to claim 244th place.
Â
Miguel Ramirez was the only Beacon to collect a new personal record in the event (28:37.20) while freshman
Lennox Zebroski competed in his first 8K, establishing a personal best of 34:15.
Â
"Today's race went really well," said Zebroski. "I ran smooth and faster than I thought I would. I felt like David being handed the victory over the Philistines by the Lord in 2 Samuel 5. The rest of the team did well today too, and we give the glory to God."
Â
Also competing for the Beacons on Saturday were
Sayer Pescosolido (322nd, 28:48.90),
CJ Long (29:07.00) and
Wyatt Pepiot (33:44.30).
Â
"It was a good weekend for the guys," said head coach
Kyle Will. "Logan continues to run well and now it is just all about getting everybody healthy, getting rest, and sharpening things for our home meet next week."
Â
Up Next: The Beacons have just a six-day layoff before their first and only home meet of the year next Friday. The Beacons will host the Bushnell Invitational at Pine Ridge Golf Course, with the gun scheduled to go off at 2:15 pm. Â Â Â
