LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Bushnell University men's basketball team struggled offensively on Friday night, shooting 31.2% in an 85-62 loss to Eastern Oregon University in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.
The Beacons (5-8, 1-6 CCC), who averaged a fourth-best 81.1 points per game entering the contest, were held to 5-of-26 from beyond the arc and made just 9-of-21 at the free throw line.
Kaleb Burnett led the team with 15 points, while
Squeeky Johnson finished with 14.
Cory Johnson recorded a team-high 10 rebounds.
The Mountaineers (8-5, 3-3) took a 35-22 lead into the intermission and extended their advantage to as many as 33 points in the second half. Garrett Hawkes led all scorers with 24 points and 10 rebounds, while Trent Rogers added 19 points off the bench. Eastern Oregon shot 48.5% from the field, including 7-of-19 from three-point range and were 14-for-22 at the free throw line.
Bushnell will battle No. 2 College of Idaho (10-2, 5-1) on Saturday at 5 p.m. (MT). The Yotes fell to Corban, 59-56, on Friday night for their first conference loss of the season.
