Beacons Soar Over Eagles

EUGENE, Ore.  – The Bushnell men's basketball team led for 38 minutes of their Cascade Conference contest with Northwest University on Friday night, claiming a 79-69 victory.
 
Playing one of their best halves of the season defensively, the Beacons pulled out to a 34-27 advantage at halftime, and stretched the lead to as many as 15 points late in the game. Bushnell shot 47.5% from the field and used a solid nine-man rotation, earning a 36-18 margin in bench scoring to claim their third straight win.
 
Head Coach Eddie Alexander said, "Tonight was a grind. We played hard and gave a great effort and I am proud of the fight we displayed. This victory was all about the team and winning together."
 
Bushnell (8-9, 4-7 CCC) was led off the bench by senior Luke Smith (pictured), scoring 16 points with three steals. Squeeky Johnson added 14 points and hit three three-pointers while Kaleb Burnett and Turner Livingston posted ten points apiece. Cory Johnson led all players with eight rebounds, added eight points and Roy Bunn rang up six assists.   
 
The Eagles (2-14, 1-9) were led by Nash Wobrock, scoring a game-high 19 points along with a team-high six rebounds. Caleb Whalen posted 13 points and a pair of blocks in the defeat.
 
Bushnell will look to make it four in a row on Saturday as they play host to The Evergreen State College Geoducks (1-12, 1-9) at 5:00 pm.
