PORTLAND, Ore. – The Bushnell volleyball team had their best hitting percentage in over two years on Saturday afternoon and cruised to a three-set sweep of Warner Pacific University on the road in just under 80 minutes, winning 25-14, 25-15, 25-12.
Â
Bushnell (7-3, 2-0 CCC) hit .397 and ran their winning streak to seven straight, matching a school record which has been accomplished four times. The last time the team was as efficient offensively was back in October of 2022 against Walla Walla, when they hit .532 in a victory.
Â
After rebounding from a sub-par performance in Friday's win over Multnomah, Head Coach
Jason Corwin said, "We had to have a shift in mindset from last night and remember how to play Beacon volleyball. We challenged the team to take care of the things we could control. They accepted that challenge and we were able to play up to our standards and expectations. We are excited to get back to the gym and get to work."
Â
The Beacons had a 37-20 advantage in kills and held the Knights (0-3, 0-2) to a .014 attack percentage as WPU committed 24 unforced errors including 19 on the attack. Bushnell also posted 11 service aces, led by four from red-shirt freshman setter
Kate Palelek.
Â
The potent Bushnell attack was led once again by
Leah Agost, hitting .667 with a match-high nine kills.
Hailey Heider added seven kills and a team-high eight digs. Palelek added 18 assists as her and setting partner
Elijah Sanders combined for 32 assists over three sets.
Â
Warner Pacific was led by six kills from Elizabeth Reid and 15 assists from Kyle Reiling.
Â
All eyes will be on the Morse Center on Tuesday night as Bushnell plays their home opener, putting their winning streak on the line against NAIA No. 9-ranked Corban University (6-1, 2-0) at 7:00 pm.
