Beacon Women Fall in CCC Opener

EUGENE, Ore.  – A pair of early goals were all Corban needed on Thursday night as the Warriors knocked off Bushnell University in the Cascade Collegiate Conference opener, 3-1.

Corban (4-2-1, 1-0) out-shot the Beacons 9-5, but Bushnell (2-5, 0-1) was able to settle things down after a rough first half, out-shooting the Warriors 4-3. Head Coach Halle Meadows said, "It was a good game tonight from the girls. I don't think the score depicted the game as we did some really good things. We also made some critical errors that they punished, but I am proud of how we played today and excited to get back to work tomorrow."

Ruby Daniels (pictured) got the Beacons on the board in the 63rd minute, taking a pass in the box from Emily Puita and beating a defender before burying a goal into the left side of the net. "Ruby was fantastic today," said Meadows. "This was the best game she has had yet this season. We were able to feed off her energy as we found some success in the second half."

The Warriors, however, put things away just ten minutes later with an insurance goal as Maya Alston posted her second of the game.

The Beacons stay home next weekend as they continue Cascade Conference action against Southern Oregon University on Friday and Oregon Tech on Saturday. Both games are scheduled for a 12:00 pm kickoff.
