Bruins Claim 3-0 Victory in Non-Conference Finale

EUGENE, Ore.  – George Fox took a 3-0 victory on Wednesday night at Civic Park, holding Bushnell without a shot attempt until the final eight minutes of the game as the Beacons wrap up their non-conference schedule with a 2-4 record.

On one hand, it was the worst way to head into the Cascade Conference, which opens play next week. On the other, it may have been a blessing in disguise for a team that found a number of weak points that will need to be shored up before the CCC circuit starts.

"This game was very transitional," said head coach Halle Meadows, "and we were our own worst enemies. We lacked in the details today and George Fox punished us for our mistakes. We definitely have a lot of work to do before Corban next week."

The Bruins (3-0) got on the board with their first goal in the 15th minute as Becca Kozak collected a quick pass and was left wide open toward the goal as a Beacon defender slipped.

Another turnover in the 36th minute got the ball on the foot of Taylor Ho, who set up Liv Haima with a pass. Haima cracked a 25-yard bullet into the upper corner of the net, making it 2-0 before halftime.

The final goal was scored within an offensive set just five minutes into the second half, again assisted by Ho, whose right-to-left slotted pass made its way to a wide-open Alexis Breer. Breer scored quickly.

The final shot tally came in at 12-2, with both Bushnell attempts coming from Stephanie Llanos in the 82nd and 83rd minutes.  GFU has registered three straight shutouts to start their season, giving up just eight shots-on-goal in that stretch.

Bushnell has eight days to regroup and prepare for their CCC opener, at home on Thursday when they face off against rival Corban University (2-1-1) at 4:30 pm. The Warriors also lost to the Bruins in the pre-season
