Womack Named Interim Head Baseball Coach

EUGENE, Ore. – Assistant Coach Jamie Womack has been named the interim head coach for the Bushnell baseball program heading into the 2025 season.

Womack has been with the program since it's inception and as an assistant coach and the recruiting coordinator has played a large role in developing a 40-man roster that has increased in wins every season and for the first time this year won the Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament and qualified for the NAIA National Championship.

Coach Jamie WomackWomack said, "I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to lead Bushnell's baseball program into an exciting future with a wonderful group of young men, many of whom will be completing their degrees this next season as the founding members of the program. This is a special university with an important mission and an exceptional faculty and staff. To be able to continue my coaching career at Bushnell is a blessing for my family and I am humbled and honored to contribute to its success in wisdom, faith, and service.

Athletic Director Corey Anderson said, "As our assistant coach and recruiting coordinator the past three years, Coach Womack has shown that he has built successful relationships with players and coaches alike throughout the west coast, especially in the Pacific Northwest.  Helping to establish a foundation focused on hard work, strong character, faith development and a positive culture has given Jamie the tools necessary to continue to build upon the upwards growth of the Bushnell Baseball program.  While this assignment will be on an interim basis initially, it comes with great support from the current roster of players."

"We are super excited for Coach Womack and this opportunity for him," added Bushnell senior student-athlete Cade Crist. "We feel as a team that we are headed in a great direction and Coach Womack is the perfect fit to keep us moving forward. I can't wait to see what is in store down the road and I am thrilled to welcome in our next head coach."

Womack originally came to the Beacons from Hesston College in Kansas, where he served one season as an assistant and recruiting coordinator. He also spent one year in the same role at Southwestern Oregon Community College.

Womack, who played high school ball at Churchill High, returned to the Eugene area in 2021 to join Tommy Richards' inaugural staff.

Womack played collegiately at William Jessup University, where he graduated in 2019 with a bachelor of science degree in Kinesiology. He will complete his Master of Sports Management degree at Bushnell this August.

Coach Womack, who will assume his new responsibilities immediately, will also leave his previous position as an admissions counselor at Bushnell to focus on coaching.

"I learned a great deal from Coach Tommy Richards," said Womack, "and I wish him the very best at Washington State. I also want to extend my gratitude to Athletic Director Corey Anderson and Vice President Jocelyn Hubbs for the faith they have placed in my and our coaching staff, and to Dean of Admissions Kacie Gerdrum and Vice President Michael Fuller for their mentorship over the course of the past two years. Go Beacs!"
