EUGENE, Ore. – Senior
Kaitlin Cook got a little dose of Hayward Field magic on Friday night, claiming her first NAIA track & field championship qualification.
Â
A handful of Beacons were able to perform close to home in the country's premiere track & field stadium, and endured an unrelenting rain and wind storm throughout the evening.
Â
For Cook (pictured, right), her time of 11:22.58 in the 3000m Steeplechase took a substantial 17 seconds off of her previous best and was good enough to hit the NAIA National "B" qualifying standard. Already a qualifier for next week's CCC Championship, she moved into fourth place on the conference performance list.
Â
On the men's side, the big highlight came from freshman
Brodie Riscili (pictured, left) who withstood the conditions to nail a new personal best in the Discus with a toss of 36.26m (118'11").
Â
The Beacons aren't done for this weekend with a large contingent competing on Saturday at the Linfield Invitational in McMinnville for their final regular season event.
