SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Three Beacons pulled out four event victories on Friday as the Beacons opened up a wet, cold, and windy trip to the bay area at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic.

Head Coach
Kyle Will said, "Our marks were not great today and the weather was less than ideal all the way around until the end of the day. It stopped raining and the sun began to come out and we actually ended the day with some great things."
Â
One of the great things almost never happened, as meet officials were considering the cancellation of the men's triple jump and had postponed the event for over an hour due to the conditions. They finally held the event, and Freshman phenom
Jermaine Schexnayder made the most of it, winning the event with an NAIA "A" qualifying mark and new school record of 14.57 meters (47'9.75").
Â
Schexnayder missed out on breaking his own school record in the high jump by just one centimeter, winning that event at 1.94m (6'4.25") for the second-highest clearance in school history.
Â
The other man to win his event on Friday was
Taylor Huffman in the javelin, posting a new personal best of 52.66 meters. The junior broke his PR by over eight feet and qualified for next week's Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific University in Southern California.
Â
Also earning a qualification for Bryan Clay, as well as clinching a CCC spot, was sophomore
Ty Kishen in the triple jump, posting a 13.62 meter mark.
Â
The women's team produced a win as well on Friday as senior
Mayah Pappas hit a 5.39 meter (17'8.25") Long Jump.
Â
Another highlight for the women on Friday was senior
Adrienne Mai, hitting a season-best time of 1:02.14 in the 400m race.
Â
"Today was a mental day, where the elements were against us and prevented us from doing what we wanted to do," said Will, "but we still showed up, worked hard, and got better. Our focus remains on the end of the season and not today."
Â
On Saturday the event concluded with a small number of events for the Beacons, highlighted by a pair of PRs in the men's 800m.
Sayer Pescosolido came in at 2:03.33, taking over four seconds off his previous best, while
Logan Gant took another second off of his, finishing just behind his teammate at 2:03.55.
Â
The Beacons will take a week off and be back in action on April 11-12. A handful of athletes have qualified for the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific University, while the majority of the team will head to Portland for the Lewis & Clark Invitational.
