SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Bushnell and the College of Idaho split Friday's Cascade Collegiate Conference doubleheader at the Hamlin Sports Complex. The Beacons won the opener 9-8 before the Yotes got the game two victory via a 13-1 run rule.

Cade Crist, who went 2-for-4 on the day with three walks said, "Tough split today. We have to come ready to play tomorrow and win the series."
Daniel Furman, who got the game one win, added, "The only thing we can do now is play our best games tomorrow."

Game 1: Bushnell 9, College of Idaho 8

Alex McFarland-Smith started off the day with a two-run homer over the center field wall in the top of the first to put the Yotes up 2-0.

Bushnell got on the board in the bottom of the second on a balk and tied the game at 2-2 on a double down the right field line from
Kyle Casperson.
Reece Carganilla hit his first home run of the season, a two-run shot to left center, to make it a 4-2 lead for the Beacons.

A solo homer by Crist made it a 5-3 advantage in the fourth but the Yotes tied it up in the fifth on a double by Jack Ingraham and a single from Jordan Kelly. C of I added two more in the sixth to take a 7-5 lead.

A sacrifice fly from
Chase Nye in the bottom half cut the deficit to one and the Beacons went on to hit three solo homers in the eighth to go up 9-7. Casperson started it off with a shot to left center to tie the game at 7-7.
Liam Kerr followed with a no-doubter to left and
Albert Jennings kept it going with a blast down the right field line.

The Yotes got one back in the top of the ninth on a home run by Kelly before
Colby Knutzen came in to shut down the final two batters, earning his fourth save of the year.

Furman (2-1) earned the win, striking out five batters in 2.2 innings of work.

Game 2: College of Idaho 13, Bushnell 1 (7 innings)

Nate Vidlak (3-2) shut down the Bushnell bats in a game that ended via run rule. Vidlak pitched all seven, allowing one run on four hits with eight strikeouts. The Beacons' one run was their lowest total of the season.

Darren Smith led the way with six RBI, finishing 3-for-4 at the plate. Ingraham brought in four runs, drawing a bases-loaded walk, and hit a bases-clearing double. The duo combined for 10 of the Yotes 13 RBI. Â

C of I tallied four homers on the game off the bats of Kelly, Smith, Jace Mahlke and Ben Gaff.

Nye hit an RBI-single in the sixth for the Beacons to avoid the shutout.
