Beacons End Four-Match Skid, Split CCC Duals

COLLEGE OF IDAHO BOX SCORE | NORTHWEST BOX SCORE

SNOHOMISH, Wash. – Bushnell put a four-match losing streak in the rear-view on Saturday afternoon as they closed the weekend CCC series with a 3-2 victory against Northwest University.

Earlier in the day, the Beacons dropped their first-ever dual against The College of Idaho (2-2, 2-1 CCC) as the Yotes came back from a 2-0 deficit to claim a 3-2 win. After Bushnell went up with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 pairs, the C of I took wins at No. 1, No. 4, and No. 5, needing three sets to claim two of them.

Brooke Silvernail and Anessa Stotts captured a win at the No. 2 pair, 21-11, 16-21, 17-15 while Courtney Isom and Jadeya Hayes earned a 21-18, 21-18 win at the No. 3 slot.

The evening session provided Bushnell the chance to come from behind as they knocked off Northwest (2-9, 0-5) for the second time this season. The Beacons trailed 1-0 early, only to have Sydney Myhre and Laci Jespersen tie things up with a 21-19, 25-23 win at No. 4.

A loss at No. 1 put NU on the brink of victory, but Isom and Hayes snagged their second win of the day at No. 4 (22-20, 21-14) and Roslyn McLellan and Mai Tomlin clinched the win at the 5's, 26-24, 21-18.

The top four teams from the CCC will qualify for the NAIA West Regional Tournament in April and the Beacons now have a two-match lead over Northwest and own the tie-breaker with two head-to-head wins thus far in the three scheduled contests.

Bushnell (4-11, 2-4) will have one more match on this road trip on Sunday afternoon. After the University of Portland came to Eugene last weekend to help christen Bushnell's new Grace Beach Courts, the Beacons will do the same for the Pilots, beginning at 12:00 pm.
