COMPLETE RESULTS | EUGENE, Ore. – The Bushnell men's track & field team got a boost from a home-town crowd on Saturday as they set 21 personal records and found their first six Cascade Conference qualifications at the LCC Open, hosted by Lane Community College.
Director of Track & Field
Kyle Will said, "We had outstanding efforts all around today. Given where we are in the season, and what we still have to come, I am very impressed and excited for some good things to come this season."
Fresh off of his appearance at the indoor track national championships last week, freshman
Jermaine Schexnayder led the way for the Beacons again as he took second-place and was the top collegiate qualifier in the triple jump. Schexnayder not only broke the Bushnell school record in his first attempt, he also qualified for the NAIA national championships with a "B" standard, posting a score of 14.48m (47'6.25").
The Bushnell jumpers will be well-represented at the CCC championships as they owned five conference qualifying marks on Saturday. Joining Schexnayder in the triple jump will be
Kaleo Wellman and
Ty Kishen.
Wellman doubled up as he also garnered a conference qualification in the long jump, posting the fourth-longest jump in school history (6.84m/22'5.25"). Not to be outdone, senior
Hunter Reininger had the third-longest jump and barely missed a PR at 6.87 meters (22 feet, 6.5 inches).
Taylor Huffman will return to conference in the javelin as he has set a new personal record in the event, clearing 50 meters for the first time in his career (50.19m/164'8").
On the track Bushnell earned a host of personal records including a 1500m time of 4:21.04 for
Sayer Pescosolido (pictured).
The outdoor season rolls on next weekend as the Beacons head to Portland for the Lewis and Clark Spring Break Open on Friday and Saturday.
