ASHLAND, Ore. –The Bushnell University beach volleyball team picked up a split in their first-ever official Cascade Collegiate Conference competition, falling to No. 4 Corban before defeating Northwest at the Raider Beach Courts on Friday afternoon.
Sydney Myhre and
Laci Jespersen, who won both their matchups today, said, "Even though we enduring freezing temperatures with snow, we found a way to work together really well and come out on top with two wins. And we cooked!"
No. 4 Corban def. Bushnell, 4-1
At the No. 4 pair, Myhre and Jespersen defeated Paytan Bazant and Jordan Faircloth in comeback fashion, 12-21, 21-19, 15-12. The win marks the first against Corban this season.
Roslyn McLellan and
Mai Tomlin had a close loss at the No. 5 pair, falling in three to Cammie Masanda and Kiley Power. McLellan and Tomlin won 25-23 before falling in the next two.
Brooke Silvernail and
Anessa Stotts also fell in a tightly contested No. 2 pair, dropping the contest, 21-18, 21-19.
Bushnell def. Northwest, 4-1
Myhre and Jespersen picked up their second win at the No. 4 pair, 21-14, 21-16, to start the match against the Eagles on a high note. Silvernail and Stotts fell in three, but the Beacons answered with three more wins to clinch their first-ever CCC victory.
McLellan and Tomlin picked up a 21-14, 21-9 win at No. 5, while Jade Hayes and
Courtney Isom battled to a 21-23, 20-22, 15-11 victory at No. 4.
Halle Neumann and
Kate Palelek wrapped up the day with a 22-20, 21-16 finish.
The Beacons (3-7) will finish off the weekend with a match against Southern Oregon University on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
