Corban Completes Season Sweep

EUGENE, Ore. – A three-point attempt at the buzzer fell short for the Beacons and Corban University hung on for an 88-85 win in the final Cascade Collegiate Conference game of the calendar year.

It was defense-optional on Monday, as the teams combined to shoot 52% from the field, and it was a tight contest for most of the night as the teams battled through seven lead changes and eleven ties. No team held a double-digit lead, and the teams played a clean contest with just nine turnovers apiece.

Bushnell (5-7, 1-5 CCC) was led in defeat by Squeeky Johnson (pictured) who had by far his best night as a Beacon, scoring 30 points as he hit five three-pointers. Cory Johnson added a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds and Roy Bunn added ten points.

Corban (7-5, 5-1) was led by Spivey Wood who scored 28 points. RJ Veliz added 18 points on 8-for-10 shooting, and led all players with six assists. Nikola Milosevic came off the bench to score six points and add a team-high ten rebounds as the Warriors out-boarded the Beacons, 40-32.

The Beacons have dropped four straight and the CCC slate doesn't get any easier as they head east to face Eastern Oregon University (7-5, 2-3) on Friday and No. 2-ranked College of Idaho (10-1, 5-0) on Saturday.
