EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon Tech used a 61% shooting night to out run the Bushnell men's basketball team on Friday night, 90-74 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.
Â
The Owls (7-3, 3-1 CCC), currently receiving votes in the NAIA coaches poll, are one of the top scoring teams in the country and they showed why, keeping the Beacons at bay for the entire night. Oregon Tech never trailed, save for a 28-28 tie late in the first half, but any time the Beacons would make a charge, OIT fought right back, eventually using a 16-2 run in the second half to put the game away.
Â
Bushnell (5-5, 1-3 CCC) dominated on the boards, out-rebounding the Owls 39-34 including a 20-6 margin on the offensive glass, which translated to a 19-8 advantage in second-chance scoring.
Â
The Beacons were led by
Cory Johnson with 17 points while
Kaleb Burnett added 13 points and ten rebounds for his second double-double of the season.
Ashton Harvey also registered a double-double as he scored ten points while pulling down a game-high 12 rebounds. His nine offensive boards were just one shy of a Bushnell school record.
Â
Oregon Tech had six players in double-figures, led by Kam Osborn and Blake Jensen scoring 15 points apiece. Four players scored 11 points, including Jamison Guerra who added a game-high nine assists.
Â
The Beacons will look to squash a two-game losing streak on Saturday as they continue CCC play against Southern Oregon University (5-5, 0-4) at 5:00 pm.
