WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Bushnell (9-6, 5-4) comes in off another split this past weekend, falling to EOU on Friday and defeating College of Idaho on Saturday. The Beacons are now 0-4 on CCC Friday's and 4-0 on Saturdays, and have two tall tasks ahead of them against No. 20 Oregon Tech and No. 24 Southern Oregon.
 
RECORDS AND MILESTONES: In Saturday's victory over The College of Idaho, senior Libby Mathis set a new Bushnell career record for offensive rebounds, crossing the 200 mark. She passed the old record of 198, held by McKenzie Gambee for 15 years.
 
On the horizon is a cool milestone for Aspen Slifka. The senior/grad student needs just five steals and three blocks, and she will become the first Beacon ever to collect 1500 points, 500 rebounds, 200 assists, 200 steals, and 100 blocked shots in her career.
 
CONFERENCE OUTLOOK: With no undefeated team remaining, No. 7 LC State (9-1) has taken over sole possession of first-place in the CCC, a half game ahead of No. 20 Oregon Tech (8-1). No. 24 Southern Oregon is close behind at 7-2. Eastern Oregon and Bushnell follow with four losses as fourth-through-tenth place are separated by just two and a half games.
 
The Beacons are currently ranked ninth in the CCC in scoring, averaging 60.9 points per game. On defense, Bushnell is third, allowing 59.0 ppg, while holding opponents to a fourth-best 36.3% from the floor. The team is third in field goal percentage (.413).
 
Individually, Aspen Slifka moved to third in the CCC in scoring (18.1 ppg). She is second in CCC games, averaging over 20 points per game. Libby Mathis is seventh in scoring (15.2 ppg) and leads the conference in field-goal percentage (.571) and rebounding (11.2 rpg).  Aly Mirabile leads the conference in assists, averaging 4.0 per contest while all five Bushnell starters rank in the top-seven in the CCC for minutes played.
 
OREGON TECH: The Owls (14-1, 8-1) finally dropped their first game of the season, losing at LC State last weekend, 88-71. OIT leads the conference in scoring (75.9 ppg) and is second defensively (58.9 ppg allowed). They also rank second for field goal percentage and free-throw percentage and are the top team in the CCC for defensive field goal percentage.
 
Olivia Sprague leads the way for the Owls, ranked second in the CCC in scoring (18.3 ppg).
 
Oregon Tech holds a 23-12 advantage in the all-time series and won all three meetings last year including a 67-62 win in the CCC quarterfinals.
 
SOUTHERN OREGON: The Raiders (11-4, 7-2) have won three of their last four games with their only CCC losses coming to the two teams ranked above them (LC State and OIT).
 
SOU has dominated defensively, leading the CCC with just 53.3 points per game allowed. They are fifth in the CCC in scoring (63.3 ppg). The Raiders also lead the conference with 5.4 blocks per game and are third in steals with 10.4 per game.
 
Kami Walk leads the team in scoring, averaging 15.5 ppg. Clara Robbins leads the conference in blocks with 2.1 per game.
 
The Raiders are 28-6 in the all-time series and have won four straight.

After an important weekend split, the Beacons (9-6, 6-3 CCC) close out the first half of the Cascade Collegiate Conference circuit this weekend on the road, traveling to face No. 23 Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon.  
 
CONFERENCE OUTLOOK: Bushnell remains nestled comfortably into the top-half of the CCC standings at 6-3, tied with Corban University for fifth place. No. 3 College of Idaho and Lewis-Clark State are currently tied for first (9-1) while this week's opponents (No. 23 OIT and Southern Oregon) are tied for third (7-2).
 
The Beacons are the top scoring team in the CCC, averaging 87.3 points per game. The next closest foe is Oregon Tech, averaging 85.1 ppg. The Beacons are ninth defensively, allowing 83.5 ppg.  The team is No. 1 for three-point shooting (.379), No. 2 for overall field goal shooting (.486) and No. 3 for free-throw shooting (.742). The Beacons are also second in the conference in assists (17.1/g), third in blocks (3.5/bpg) and on top for assist-to-turnover ratio (1.6).
 
Individually, Stevie Schlabach ranks sixth in the conference in scoring (15.7 ppg). Spencer Hoffman is fourth in conference with 7.9 rebounds per game and sixth for field goal percentage (.558).
 
OREGON TECH: The Owls (12-3, 7-2) has won six of their last seven games to remain in contention for the CCC championship and to hold their No. 23 national ranking.  
 
OIT is second in the CCC in scoring (85.1 ppg) and fifth in defense (74.2 ppg allowed). They lead the CCC in field goal percentage (.505) and assists (17.4 apg). Kam Osborn and Keegan Shivers lead the team with 13 points per game, while two others are above 12 ppg for one of the most well-rounded offensive threats in the conference. Shivers is also third in rebounding (8.5 rpg) and Blake Jensen leads the conference in shooting percentage, hitting 66.7% of his shots.  
 
Oregon Tech holds a 53-16 lead in the all-time series with the Beacons are they are 35-3 all-time at home. Bushnell won the last meeting between the teams at home last year, 76-74, breaking a seven-game losing streak in the series.
 
SOUTHERN OREGON: The Raiders (9-6, 7-2) come into the weekend as winners of three out of their last four games. Their CCC losses are to OIT and LC State and their big claim to fame has been a victory over College of Idaho, which was the Yotes first CCC loss in two years.
 
SOU is eighth in the CCC in scoring (75 ppg) and second in defense (69.3 ppg allowed). They are second in the CCC in steals, averaging 7.2 per game. Khalil Chatman leads the team but is just 29th in the CCC in scoring, averaging 10.8 points per game. The Raiders roster also features a pair of former Beacons in Teron Bradford (10.4 ppg) and Cole McAninch (9.7 ppg).
 
The Raiders are 33-28 all-time against Bushnell, but the teams have split their home-and-home series in each of the past two seasons with the road team winning every time.

INDOOR TRACK & FIELD
Sunday 1/21 at Portland Indoor #1 (Livestats)
 
The 2024 Indoor Track & Field season gets going on Sunday as the Beacons compete at the Portland Indoor #1 meet, taking place at the Chiles Center at the University of Portland.
 
The Beacons will travel 14 men and nine women to the event which will feature the collegiate debuts for six freshmen.
 
The first meet will include a limited number of events as the Beacons will be competing only in the 600m, 1000m, and 4x400m relay, as well as a non-NAIA distance of 300m.
