Yotes Hit 17 Threes to Knock Off Beacons

EUGENE, Ore. – The Bushnell men's basketball team saw a three-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday as they fell to the No. 5-ranked College of Idaho Yotes in Cascade Collegiate Conference action, 101-68.  
 
In what was billed as a battled between the top offense (Bushnell) and the top defense (College of Idaho) in the Cascade Conference, it the Yotes offense the took over, blasting out to a 16-0 lead in just five minutes and never letting Bushnell to get closer than 14-points for the remainder of the game.
 
The Yotes (13-2, 8-1 CCC) maintained their share of first-place in the CCC with a 56% shooting night, hitting 17-for-32 from three-point range. They out-rebounded the Beacons 36-28 and held a 20-6 margin in second-chance scoring.
 
Bushnell (9-6, 6-3) shot 47% on the night but were just 6-for-20 from outside and turned the ball over 13 times. One bright spot for the Beacons was holding the Yotes top scorer, and Eugene native, Samaje Morgan to just four points, although the seniors guard did lead all players with seven assists.
 
The Yotes had five players in double-figures, led by 20 from Johnny Radford who went 6-for-10 from three-point range.
 
The Beacons were led by Stevie Schlabach, scoring 14 points. Kaden Sand was the only other Beacon in double-figures, scoring 11 points with six rebounds, four assists, and two blocks. Freshman Kaleb Burnett provided a spark off the bench once again for the Beacons, scoring nine points in just eight minutes of second-half work as he shot 4-for-4 from the field.
 
The Beacons will look to rebound next weekend as they hit the road, traveling to face No. 23 Oregon Tech on Friday at 7:30 pm.
