Beacons Fall in Four to No. 5 Warriors

EUGENE, Ore.  – The Bushnell volleyball team took the opening set off of the NAIA's No. 5-ranked Corban University Warriors on Wednesday night, but suffered their first CCC loss of the season, 20-25, 25-7, 25-13, 25-11.

The Beacons (4-3, 2-1 CCC) jumped all over the Warriors in the first set, hitting at a .364 clip with just two attack errors. After collecting 14 kills in the opening frame, however, the Beacons were held to just 15 kills over the final three sets as the defending NAIA national runners-up bounced back in a big way.

Bushnell would finish the night posting 29 attack errors and a .000 attack percentage. The Warriors (9-2, 3-0) managed to out-block the Beacons 13-7 and out-dig the visitors 56-38 as their defensive effort allowed them to come back for the win.

Celia Hubbard would finish the night as the only primary attacker with a positive hitting percentage, collecting four kills and a team-leading four blocks. Leah Agost (pictured) led all players with eight kills, Bella Parque added eight digs and Katie Belitz secured team-highs with 14 assists and three aces.

Junior All-American Rylee Troutman led the Warriors with 16 kills, hitting .364 along with ten digs and three blocks. Emma Bischoff added nine kills without an error and four aces while Allyson Reid led all players with eight blocks.

Bushnell will look to rebound quickly, returning home to take on The Evergreen State College (1-6, 1-2) on Friday at 7:00 pm.
