Beacons Pick Up Second Conference Win

SPRINGFIELD, Ore.  –  The Bushnell women's soccer team cruised to their second shutout of the Cascade Collegiate Conference season, a 3-0 victory over the University of Providence in Saturday's match at the Les Schwab Sports Park.

Head Coach Halle Meadows said, "We did all the right things. We connected passes, finished most of our opportunities and really came together as a team. Our defensive effort was really good and our offense put away the chances that were created. It was a good weekend for Beacon soccer!"

The three-goal margin is the biggest victory for the Beacons (3-3-1, 2-1-1 CCC) since 2019. It is also the first undefeated weekend in conference play for Bushnell since 2018.

Bushnell got on the board early as Emily Puita sent in her first goal of the season off an assist from Sydney Petersen. The Beacons carried a 1-0 lead in the break before running away with the second half.

Ashley Flores converted a penalty kick to double the Beacon advantage in the 49th minute before Ruby Daniels got in on the scoring. Daniels gave Bushnell a 3-0 lead in the 61st minute of play, sending in a pass from Puita.

The Beacons finished with a 15-6 shots advantage on the match, including five off the foot of Daniels. Puita added four shots, two on frame. Lexi Bates and Natalie Romero split time in goal for Bushnell.

Dani Waialeale led the Argos (2-6-1, 1-3-1) with two shots. Maya Amundson got the start in goal, gathering four saves on the day.

Up next, the Beacons host the Evergreen State College (Oct. 6) and Northwest University (Oct. 7).
