SALEM, Ore. –  The Bushnell University women's soccer team opened Cascade Collegiate Conference action against Corban University on Friday evening, falling to the Warriors, 3-1.
Â
Bushnell (1-3, 0-1 CCC) gave up a pair of early goals less than two minutes apart before
Lexis Canyete-Asato put one in the net for the Beacons with under a minute to play in the first half. Canyete-Asato knocked in a tight-angled shot from the right side of the penalty area to end a six-game scoreless drought against the Warriors.
Â
The sides played a one-score game until Alysia Alvarado sent in the third for the Warriors in the 79
th minute. Alvarado tallied eight shots on the match, five on frame. The Warriors outshot the Beacons, 18-9.
Head Coach
Halle Meadows said, "We made some big errors right in front of goal. They are a good team and they punished us for it. We fought being down 2-0 and right before the half, Lex got a great goal. The second half was a battle but we made another error not clearing the ball and they punished us again. The big takeaway is finishing our early opportunities and not chasing the game."Â
Â
The Beacons were led by three shots from
Emily Puita, two on goal. Canyete-Asato added two shots, both on frame and
Lexi Bates recorded nine saves.
Â
Up next, Bushnell takes on Oregon Tech (Sept. 22) and Southern Oregon (Sept. 23).
