SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Linfield University used a four-run bottom of the eighth to put the game out of reach for visiting Bushnell University, defeating the Beacons, 9-4, in Tuesday's non-conference game.

Caleb Watson (0-1) got the start for Bushnell, giving up a pair of runs on back-to-back doubles in the top of the first before throwing three scoreless innings. The Beacons were held to just two hits through the first five frames.

The Wildcats extended their lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the fifth before the Beacons got on the scoreboard with a run in the sixth.
Jacob Richardson singled to reach base and scored on a fielder's choice.

Linfield got that run back in the bottom half, but Bushnell made it a one-run game with a three runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Cayden Delozier brought home
Max Richards with a double down the right field line and Richardson singled in two more to bring the score to 5-4.

The Wildcats put up four runs in the eighth to stop the Beacons' momentum and come away with a season-ending win. Â

Wyatt Hurley (1-0) recorded the win on the mound for Linfield, pitching three scoreless innings. The Wildcats tallied 11 hits on the game, led by a 3-for-5 performance by Nick Holm. Holm and Garrett Moen finished with three RBI apiece.

Jeff Fripp finished with two hits each to lead the Beacons at the plate. Â
