Beacons Top Raiders to End Skid

EUGENE, Ore.  – The Bushnell Beach Volleyball team closed out their own tournament on Saturday with a split, taking care of Southern Oregon in the closing dual, 4-1, to end a five-match losing streak.

Bushnell fell to Northwest for the second straight day, again by a score of 3-2. Roslyn McLellan and Madi Trueblood helped keep things close as they won for the third time this season, topping their opponent in the second flight in three sets.

After sitting out the two losses to Northwest, senior Halle Neumann returned with a vengeance against Southern Oregon, teaming with Laci Jespersen for a two-set sweep as the Beacons were tied 1-1 after the first two duals.
 
Abby Nelson and Anessa Stotts won at the fives and soon after, Makenna Northern and Logan Kaneshiro (pictured) clinched the victory with a dominant win in the No. 1 flight. Brooke Silvernail and Jadeya Hayes had to work their way back after dropping the first set to close the 4-1 victory.
 
The Beacons (6-8) are scheduled to close out the regular season next weekend, traveling to Corban University in Salem for a neutral-site match with Northwest University (2-7). The Eagles are now 2-1 this season against Bushnell.
