EUGENE, Ore.  – The Bushnell beach volleyball team opened up their hosting duties on Friday with a pair of losses, falling to No. 1 Corban University as well as Northwest University at the Churchill High School Sand Courts.

An extremely close match from start-to-finish, Bushnell and Northwest put together an instant classic that saw six out of 11 sets go to extra points. NU jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Abby Nelson and
Anessa Stotts (pictured) rallied twice to claim a win in the fifth flight. The Beacon pair trailed 19-14 in the first set and 19-16 in the second, storming back each time to claim 22-20 wins. Stotts closed out the match with three straight service aces.

No. 3 pair Caitlyn James and Kelsey Moore clinched the first-ever win for Northwest (1-6), playing in their inaugural season.

The Beacons (5-7) will host four more tournament games at Churchill on Saturday. Corban returns to take on Southern Oregon (3-5) at 10:00 am and Northwest at 12:00 pm. Then the Beacons will look for a little payback against Northwest at 2:00 pm before hosting SOU at 4:00 pm.
