Bushnell Drops Mid-Week Game at Western Oregon

MONMOUTH, Ore.  –  The Bushnell University baseball team dropped a mid-week contest to NCAA Division II Western Oregon University on Wednesday, falling 4-1 in the non-conference road game.

Head Coach Tommy Richards said, "It was a mid-week learning opportunity for our club. We weren't the most excited team on the field. Now it's time to get back to work in preparation for the weekend."

It was a bullpen day for the Beacons (11-7), who used six pitchers in the contest, combining for just two earned runs on the day. Jahshua Yacapin (1-1) got the start, tossing the first two innings, allowing one run on three hits. Alec Gums, Adam Sabatino, Ethan Sachs, Kai Keamo and Trenton Hough all pitched at least one frame.

Yuzo Ishioka (1-0) allowed just one hit through five scoreless innings for Western Oregon (10-7) to get the win on the mound. Devin Bell earned the save, throwing a hitless ninth inning.

Cayden Delozier drove in Bushnell's run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth, bringing in Daniel Furman to cut the deficit to 4-1. Neither side scored the rest of the way.

Ethan Stacy led the Beacons at the plate, hitting 2-for-3. Delozier and Furman each recorded a hit.

Up next, Bushnell takes on Lewis & Clark College, hosting the Pioneers in a doubleheader on Saturday before finishing off the series with a game in Portland on Sunday.
