MEN'S BASKETBALL

Friday 2/10 at Eastern Oregon, 7:30 pm (Livestats | Video Stream)
Saturday 2/11 at The College of Idaho, 5:00 pm MT (Livestats | Video Stream)

The Beacons (11-13, 9-9 CCC) are set for a huge finish to the regular season as they take on three of the top-four teams over the final two weeks, along with a formidable foe with whom they are currently battling for their post-season hopes.

LAST WEEK: The Beacons split their road trip last weekend, falling to Lewis-Clark State on Friday before taking down Walla Walla University on Saturday. Spencer Hoffman had another big weekend for the Beacons, averaging 24 points per game. He posted career-highs of 29 points and 17 rebounds in the win over Walla Walla.

CCC OUTLOOK: Bushnell sits in a three-way tie for sixth-place with LC State and Oregon Tech with four games remaining for all three teams involved. The trio will most likely continue to battle it out for the final three playoff spots as they are three games behind fifth-place and two games ahead of Multnomah in ninth. Meanwhile, top-ranked College of Idaho, who is undefeated in the CCC and riding a 22-game winning streak, can clinch the CCC regular-season championship on Tuesday with a victory over Eastern Oregon.

CONFERENCE/NAIA RANKS: The Beacons are currently ranked third in the CCC in scoring (82.1 points per game) and ninth in defense (79.2 ppg allowed). Bushnell leads the conference in defensive three-point percentage as opponents are hitting just 30.4% of their deep shots. The Beacons remain No. 2 in the conference and third in the NAIA in free-throw percentage (.792).

Individually, Spencer Hoffman is fourth in the conference in scoring (16.6 ppg) while Stevie Schlabach is 9th (15.2). Hoffman is also second in rebounding (9.4 rpg) and fourth in field goal percentage (.603).

EASTERN OREGON: The Mounties (15-8, 12-5 CCC) are currently sitting in third-place in the CCC, a half-game ahead of Southern Oregon and Warner Pacific, pending the outcoming of their Tuesday-night clash with C of I. EOU was riding strong in the No. 2 spot for quite a while but have lost two of three.

The Mounties are seventh in the conference in scoring, averaging 79.4 points per game and they rank fifth defensively, allowing 73.3 ppg. They thrive from the outside where they lead the conference with 39% three-point shooting. They also take care of the basketball, ranked third in the CCC for turnover margin.

Senior Phillip Malatare leads the Cascade Conference in scoring, averaging 19.3 points per game. He is also fourth in the conference in steals (1.7 spg). The Mounties have four other players averaging at least ten points per game, including Adam Orr who ranks second in the CCC for both three-pointers (2.9/g) and three-point percentage (.465).

The Mounties defeated Bushnell 75-70 in Eugene earlier this season and hold a 20-12 lead in the all-time series. They have won four of the last five meetings but the Beacons will be looking for a season split for the third time in four years.

THE COLLEGE OF IDAHO: The Yotes (22-1, 17-0 CCC) have been nothing short of dominant this season, outscoring opponents by an average margin of 24 points per game. They lead the conference in scoring (87.4 ppg), opponent scoring (63.2 ppg allowed), field goal percentage (.495), defensive field goal percentage (.403), rebounding offense (42.8 rpg) and rebounding defense (30.4 rpg allowed).

Johnny Radford leads the team in scoring (14 ppg) and leads the CCC in both three pointers made (3.0/g) and three-point percentage (.486). Straton Rogers leads the conference in field goal percentage (.730) and is fourth in rebounding (7.9 rpg).

The Yotes won in Eugene back in January, 81-65, making it six straight wins over the Beacons. They also hold a 22-8 lead in the all-time series.
