BOX SCORE | SALEM, Ore.  – The Bushnell Beach Volleyball team made their 2023 season debut on Friday and claimed a 4-1 victory over Southern Oregon University at the Corban Sand Courts.
 
It was a strong start to the season for the Beacons as they matched their win total from their entire debut 2022 campaign.
 
Halle Neumann and Laci Jespersen (pictured) started things off with a victory at the No. 4 spot, 21-12, 21-17. Neumann, a first-team All-Cal Pac honoree last season said, "I am so proud of how our team started the season! We stayed resilient and had positive energy throughout our matches. The team's grit and mental toughness held strong and we are excited to play again tomorrow."

Madi Trueblood and Roslyn McLellan came back from a rough start to win at the No. 2 slot, 7-21, 21-19, 15-11 and Abigail Nelson and Anessa Stotts put on a clinic at the No. 5 pairing with a 21-5, 21-4 win to clinch the victory.

The Beacons will continue their season-opening weekend in Salem on Saturday, taking on Northwest University at 12:00 pm before a 4:00 pm rematch with SOU.
