Northwest Holds Off Bushnell

SPRINGFIELD, Ore.  –  Northwest University held off Bushnell University, 1-0, in Saturday night's Cascade Collegiate Conference women's soccer match at the Les Schwab Sports Park.

Head Coach Halle Meadows said, "It was a tough game against a great team. We did a lot of good things tonight and fought for a full 90 but just didn't come out on top. We learn, work hard this week and come out ready to play next weekend."

Northwest improves to 6-5-1 overall and 4-2-1 in conference play, handing Bushnell (4-4-1, 3-2-1) their first loss since Sept. 15. It was a competitive battle from start to finish with the Eagles finishing with a 17-11 advantage in shots, including 10 on frame.

After a scoreless first half, the Eagles managed to get on the scoreboard in the 61st minute of play. Colette Liston scored the match-winner, sending in her shot in a crowded box. The Northwest offense was powered by Gracie VanAssche, who tallied six shots, while Liston added five.

Emily Puita led the Beacons with four shots, three on goal. Niamhie Taylor-Hughes and Lexis Canyete-Asato finished with two shots apiece and Lexi Bates collected nine saves.

Up next, Bushnell hosts Multnomah (Oct. 13) and Warner Pacific (Oct. 14) for senior weekend.
