EUGENE, Ore. – The Bushnell volleyball team put a three-match home losing streak in the rearview mirror on Friday night, taking down Lewis-Clark State College in four sets, 25-18, 25-15, 21-25, 25-16.
The Beacons (12-7, 10-5 CCC) hit .331 in the match, one of their most efficient attacking performances of the season, fighting off a feisty defensive Warriors team that out-dug the Beacons 60-54. Bushnell out-blocked LC State 11-3.
Head Coach
Jason Corwin said, "We put all phases together tonight. It was fun to see our offense come to life and it was encouraging to see how we responded after LC made some impactful changes in the third set."
Bushnell got a little offense on all fronts with the outside, right side and middle hitters all having an impact on the bottom line and six different players responsible for scoring at least seven points. Sophomore
Leah Agost (pictured) led the way with 14 kills and a .444 hitting percentage while fellow outside hitter
Amyah Semau scored nine kills and 11 digs.
Agost said, "I am super proud of our team tonight. We came out with really good energy and took care of business. We had a great response after the third set and each player on the court contributed to our success."
On the right side,
Halle Neumann collected eight kills while
Matty Ladd scored seven kills and a match-high seven blocks.
In the middle, it was
Celia Hubbard leading the way, collecting eight kills on ten swings without an error while also securing a piece of five blocks.
Makenna Mosher added four kills without an error and six blocks.
"Tonight we came out electric and it really carried us throughout the match," said Hubbard. "We found ways to consistently make plays and define who we are as a team. It was such a fun game to play with my teammates and it will provide us with positive momentum as we progress through the second half of the season."
Not to be overlooked, redshirt freshman setter
Katie Belitz led all players with 26 assists, adding seven digs and two aces while junior
Bella Parque posted a match-high 20 digs.
For the Warriors (7-13, 6-9) Juliauna Forgach Aguilar ended the night with a match-high 17 kills while Gianna Anderson added 12. The pair accounted for nearly 60 percentage of the offensive swings.
The Beacons will remain home tomorrow night as Walla Walla (1-15, 1-14) pays a visit at 9:00 pm.
