Owls Defeat Beacons

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech used a dominant second half to pull away for a 104-61 victory over Bushnell on Saturday evening in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.

Riding a three-game winning streak, the Beacons (6-9, 4-5 CCC) were reminded of just how difficult the conference regular-season gauntlet can be, shooting just 39% and scoring 22 second-half points. Oregon Tech (7-8, 4-5) shot 65% in an offensive gem that included 30 free-throws in 37 trips to the line.

The Beacons were led by Stevie Schlabach in the loss, the only player really able to find a rhythm as he shot 6-for-9 from the field for 17 points. Alexis Angeles added eight points and a game-high three assists.

Oregon Tech had six players in double-figures including all five starters and out-rebounded the Beacons 42-24. Their 13 offensive rebounds led to a 21-8 margin in second-chance points while a 60-24 advantage in points in the paint were a major difference maker. Keegan Shivers ended the night with a game-high 25 points.

The Beacons will have to rebound quickly as they come back home on Friday night to take conference-leading The College of Idaho (14-1, 9-0) at 7:30 pm. The Yotes are currently ranked No. 3 in the NAIA and expected to move up when the next national coaches poll is released this week.
