EUGENE, Ore. – Bushnell dropped their season opener to Simpson University on Friday evening, giving up a pair of goals in the final 11 minutes for a 2-0 final at the Les Schwab Sports Spark.
Â
The game had been closely contested to that point, but a missed penalty kick opportunity for Bushnell in the 75th minute seemed to give the Red Hawks a little extra fire power as they rallied to score the game winning goal just five minutes later.
Â
The Beacons (0-1) were out-shot 18-9 in the contest but just 6-4 in shots-on-goal, a category which had been dead even for nearly 90 minutes. Eight different players posted a shot attempt for Bushnell in the loss.
Â
The Beacons will be back in action on Wednesday, hitting the road for the first time this season as they take on Pacific Union College in Angwin, California at 11:00 am.
