Oregon Twilight Results | Linfield Open Results
EUGENE, Ore.– Bushnell put the final touches on the regular season this weekend, competing in two events in their final preparations for the Cascade Collegiate Conference championships.
No new tickets were punched for the CCC festivities, but it was a solid weekend of preparation. Director of Track & Field
Tom Boldon said, "This weekend gave us a chance to do some fine-tuning before conference next weekend. We have a very strong conference and it will be a great opportunity for our athletes to get in there and challenge for some places on the podium."
OREGON TWILIGHT
On Friday night a number of Beacons were able to compete locally in the Oregon Twilight meet at Hayward field. It was a big weekend for senior
Carina Haas (pictured, right), who matched a school-record at the meet before walking across the stage at the Bushnell graduation ceremony on Saturday. "Carina looked very sharp," said Boldon. "She seems to be peaking at the right time."
Jaron Carter (pictured, left) also highlighted the Hayward meet on the men's side. In the 100m, Carter took third-place behind a pair of Oregon Ducks, and posted the fourth-fastest time in school history with a 10.90 run. He also finished third in the 200m and was the second collegiate finisher, missing out on his season-best by just a hair (22.33). Boldon said, "Jaron ran well at Hayward and has been progressing throughout the season as he has gotten healthy. He is ready to put it all together at conference."
LINFIELD OPEN
Saturday saw a host of Beacon athletes competing at the Linfield Open. Leading the charge was sophomore
Sierra Janikowski who claimed lifetime best times in both the 100m hurdles (16.99) and 400m hurdles (1:10.55). "Sierra had a great day," said Boldon. "She has been working hard to break 17 seconds and she finally did that on a windy and wet day."
It is off to Ashland, Oregon next weekend for the CCC championships, which will be hosted by Southern Oregon University. 21 Bushnell athletes have qualified to compete and they will be joined by a few others who claim wildcards, as well as members of the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams.
