College of Idaho Takes Two for Series Win

EUGENE, Ore.  – After splitting a pair on Friday, the Beacons fell twice on Saturday as the College of Idaho won the Cascade Collegiate Conference series behind 3-1 and 8-0 victories.

With the losses, Bushnell (9-25, 7-5 CCC) fell from a second-place tie with the Yotes into third-place. C of I improved to 21-18 overall and 9-3 in conference.

Kai Keamo threw his best game of the season, striking out eight batters through six innings of scoreless work, but the Beacon bats were too quiet to take advantage.

Bushnell took a 1-0 lead on a Noah Montoya RBI double in the third inning, and took that same score into the eighth inning. The Yotes were able to put up a pair, adding an insurance run in the ninth to eek out the victory.

The Beacons out-hit C of I, 9-7, but left 11 men on base. Reece Carganilla (pictured), Jacob Stoner and Dylan Martin each had a pair of his for Bushnell.

The Beacons were out-hit 13-6 in the night cap, as a pair of Yote hurlers combined on the shutout, striking out nine. Jahshua Yacapin (2-1) took his first loss of the season despite a quality six-inning start, allowing three runs on seven hits.

Six different batters got hits for the Beacons with Jeff Fripp and Peyton Hino collecting doubles.

Bushnell will be back in action for a non-conference game at Willamette University on Tuesday at 3:00 pm. Next weekend they head to Klamath Falls to take on Oregon Tech for a four-game CCC series.
