Beach Competes in Home Opener

EUGENE, Ore.  – The Bushnell Beach Volleyball team made their home debut on Friday, playing a pair of tight duals with No. 8 Corban University at the Amazon Park Sand Volleyball Courts. The Warriors took a 3-2 victory in the afternoon contest and won 4-1 in the evening session.
 
Head Coach Kim Elgarico said, "It was amazing to see the girls take a few matches at our first ever home duals. We continue to close the gap with our opponents and show improvements every time we step in the sand. I am proud of our improvement and I am excited to see what we will bring to the next dual."

The Beacons captured a pair of wins in a match for the first time in the opening match. Halle Neumann and Brooke Silvernail won at the No. 4 slot in two sets. Meanwhile, Jessica Northcutt and Camille Guerrero won in three sets and picked up their first win of the season, pushing the Beacons out to an early 2-0 lead.
 
The Warriors came back to win the next three as Briana Ayala and Jessica McMillan sealed the win with a victory at No. 3 over Olivia Peck and Roslyn McLellan.

Three out of five matches went to three sets in the evening dual as Corban snuck away with the 4-1 win. Once again, Halle Neumann and Brooke Silvernail proved to be victorious, with Neumann improving to 3-5 on the season.
 
"Our team is growing and improving with every match," said Neumann. "Today was our first home game and we had a lot of close games and great matchups. We are coming together as a team and consistently improving. I am excited to see what we can do in the second half of the season."

The teams will face off again on Saturday for another pair of duals, with the weekend series moving to Corban's campus in Salem beginning at 11:00 am.
