Rueegger Takes Third, Hits NAIA Qualifier at Shamrock'n Half Marathon

COMPLETE RESULTS

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Junior Linus Rueegger finished third out of nearly 3000 runners on Sunday at the Shamrock'n Half Marathon, conquering a school record and NAIA qualification in the process.

Rueegger crossed the finish line in one hour, 12 minutes, and 12 seconds, taking over two minutes off of the school record, which had been held by Jacob Truitt for the past three years. He cleared the NAIA automatic qualifying standard by 48 seconds and landed the seventh-fastest time in the NAIA this season.

Head Coach Tom Boldon said, "Linus has been working very hard on his training, running higher mileage and doing longer workouts in preparation for today. His hard work really paid off as he crushed the NAIA standard. He executed the race plan pretty much to perfection."

Rueegger was third among the 2894 competitors, including 1,267 men. He was also the top finisher among all men ages 19-24. "First of all, I am beyond grateful to Bushnell for providing me with the opportunity to compete and even more so to coach Tom for his support on race day. I also want to thank our assistant coach Ryan Booth and all of my teammates who have been super supportive. I am really happy to hit the qualifier and excited to keep on working."
