SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Junior
Jeff Fripp hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth and Bushnell held on for a 5-4 win in the second game of a Saturday double-header with Oregon Tech. The Owls claimed the opener, 7-3.

Fripp went 5-for-6 on the day, scored five times and had two RBI, lifting the Beacons (2-14) to their second win of the season and first-ever against Oregon Tech. The Owls move to 11-6 on the season.

GAME ONE: Oregon Tech 7, Bushnell 3
Â
Tied at 3-3 after four innings, the Owls pulled away late with two in the fifth, one in the sixth and one in the ninth inning.

Lead-off hitter Matthew Ortiz went 5-for-5 for OIT, hitting a pair of doubles with two RBI and two runs scored. Fripp was 3-for-3 for the Beacons while
Noah Montoya hit 2-for-4.

Abbott Haffar (0-3) threw five innings for the Beacons, allowing three earned runs on six hits while striking out six batters.
Ethan Paulson finished out the last four innings, giving up two runs on two hits.

Brendan Talonen (1-0) got the win in relief for the Owls, allowing just three hits over the final five innings.

GAME TWO: Bushnell 4, Oregon Tech 3
Â
Fripp provided the highlight of the game with his fifth-inning game-winning blast, but pitching proved to be the story for the Beacons as three hurlers combined to allow four hits while striking out 12.

Jahshua Yacapin started the game and went four, his only blemish a three-run triple to Kaleb Keelean in the fourth inning for OIT's only runs. He struck out six batters, but had six hit-by-pitch.

Kai Keamo came in for 4.1 solid innings of relief and picked up his first collegiate victory, striking out five batters, and
Daniel Furman came in to retire the last two batters to grab his first career save.

For the Owls, Cody Dubray (3-1) suffered his first defeat of the season, after giving up three earned runs including the Fripp flyer.

Bushnell will be back in action next weekend, traveling to face the University of British Columbia.
