Beacons Fall to Warriors 71-60

EUGENE, Ore. – Lewis-Clark State College defeated the Bushnell University men's basketball team 71-60 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action on Friday night in the Morse Center.
 
Head Coach Eddie Alexander said, "I love our heart and how hard we fight. Not having our full roster again has been a mental battle for the team, but guys keep battling. I'm looking forward to celebrating our seniors tomorrow night."
 
With the loss, Bushnell drops to 8-18 overall and 6-13 in conference play. The Beacons are now three games back of a top-eight spot in the standings with just three games to go. Lewis-Clark State improves to 18-9 overall and 11-8 in CCC action.
 
Bushnell trailed 43-21 at the break before using a 23-5 run to open the second half and make it a four-point game. A three-pointer by Keishon Dawkins dropped the Warrior advantage to three, 53-50, with seven and a half minutes to go before LC State used an 11-3 run of their own to go back up by 11. The Warriors did not let the Beacons get any closer than nine points the rest of the way.
 
Bushnell shot 36.7% from the field and 22.2% (6-27) from three-point range, while LC State finished 35.4% from the floor and 36% (9-25) from beyond the arc. LC held a 53-36 advantage in rebounds, which included a 16-4 lead in offensive boards.
 
Dawkins led the Beacons with 20 points and nine rebounds. Drayton Caoile finished with 15 points on 5-for-9 shooting. Nico Wolff added eight points, seven rebounds and two steals.
 
The Warriors were led by Khalil Stevenson, who finished with 20 points. Stevenson shot 4-for-5 from three-point range. Al Sommerfield recorded 13 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Silas Bennion added 11 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.
 
Up next, Bushnell hosts Walla Walla University tomorrow at 9 p.m. for Senior Night. Dillon Young, Eric Marbley, Logan Sand and Nico Wolff will be honored prior to the game.
