MEN'S BASKETBALL

Saturday 12/17 vs. Walla Walla, 9:00 pm (Livestats | Video Stream)
Sunday 12/18 vs. Lewis-Clark State, 5:00 pm (Livestats | Video Stream)

The Beacons (2-7, 0-3 CCC) are looking to put an end to a seven-game losing streak this weekend as they resume Cascade Collegiate Conference action.

RECORDS WATCH: Junior Stevie Schlabach is on the cusp of history. Moving up to 1268 career points over the weekend, he currently needs just 41 points to break Bushnell's NAIA-Era scoring record. Austin Kuemper scored 1308 points in his career from 2013-2016. Schlabach has already joined him as just the second player since the 1990's to score 1200. Schlabach currently ranks 7th on the all-time scoring list and will pass Hall of Famer Chuck Katter with 28 more points.

HOT STREAK: After a relatively slow start to the season, junior Spencer Hoffman has had quite a month of December so far. After getting shutout against Corban in the CCC opener on November 2, he has proven to be unstoppable, averaging 25.3 points and 10.0 rebounds per game over his last four games. He is shooting 64% from the field in that stretch and has twice scored 27 points.

CCC RANKS: Despite their 2-7 record, the Beacons are currently ranked third in the CCC in scoring, averaging 84.6 points per game. They are eighth defensively, averaging 81.7 points against. The team has also been shooting the ball well, ranked No. 2 for overall field-goal percentage (.481), third for free-throws (.756) and No. 1 from three-point range (.414). That three-point percentage ranks fifth in the NAIA. The Beacons are also tops in the CCC for defensive three-point shooting (.295 against), second in assists (17.3 apg) and third for rebounding (38.3 rpg).

Individually, Stevie Schlabach is seventh in the conference in scoring (16.8 ppg) and leads the entire NAIA in three-point shooting at 68.4%. Spencer Hoffman in ninth in the CCC in scoring (16.4 ppg) and third in rebounding (9.0 rpg), while Trevon Richmond is fourth in assists (4.7 apg).

Schlabach, Hoffman, and Luke Smith are all in the top-six in the conference in field goal percentage and Smith is also second in assist-to-turnover ratio at 4.2.

WALLA WALLA: The Wolves (0-6, 0-3) will head to Eugene looking for their first win of the season. They have been outscored by an average of 25.7 points per game thus far. Their closest opportunity came at Evergreen on December 2 when they lost by eight, 82-74.

The Wolves are last in the conference for both scoring (66.7 ppg) and defense (92.3 ppg allowed). Opponents are shooting .526 against them.

Andrew Vaughan leads a trio of Wolves who are averaging at least ten points per game. Vaughan is scoring 15.0 ppg which ranks 13th in the CCC. Caleb Golden averages 12.5 ppg and is shooting a team-leading 56% from the field.

The Beacons hold a 14-3 lead in the all-time series with WWU, dating back to 2005. The Wolves, however, broke a 11-game losing streak to Bushnell last season, defeating the Beacons in Eugene, 78-72.

LEWIS-CLARK STATE: The Warriors have opened up the season at 5-4 but have dropped three of their last five after a 3-1 start to the year. They are 2-1 in CCC play, having lost to Northwest.

LC State is ninth in the CCC in scoring (75.3 ppg), but tied for second defensively, allowing just 68.8 points per game against. They are also second in defensive field goal percentage at .408.

Davian Brown leads the team and is 12th in the CCC in scoring, averaging 15.2 points per game. He is third in conference for three-pointers with 26.

Bushnell is still looking for their first win against the Warriors as LC State is 5-0 in the all-time series including a pair of wins in their first Cascade Conference home-and-home series last season. They won each of those games by 11 points.
