Top-Ranked Mounties Win in Four

LA GRANDE, Ore.  – The No. 1 ranked team in the NAIA continued a 19-match winning streak on Friday night, defeating Bushnell in four sets, 25-17, 22-25, 25-18, 25-20.

The Beacons (12-8, 7-5 CCC), currently receiving votes in the NAIA national coaches poll, are one of the few teams in the CCC to take a set off of the conference leaders this season, and they have done it twice, both at home and on the road.

Eastern Oregon (19-1, 12-0) used all of their strengths to put it away on Friday, out-blocking the Beacons 16-6 while hitting .244 with a 69-57 advantage in digs.

Bushnell lived and died at the service line, claiming a 6-0 advantage in service aces while also producing a season-high 17 service errors.

The Beacons were led on offense by Jessica Northcutt who posted a match-high 14 kills. She has now collected 476 in her career and is close to becoming the fourth Bushnell senior this season to cross the 500-kill barrier.

Halle Neumann added 11 kills while Payton Jones led the team with three blocks. Callie Wilkins added 19 digs and Makenna Northern finished with a match-high 38 assists.

Bushnell will look to bounce back on Saturday night, facing The College of Idaho (5-14, 4-8 CCC) at 6:00 pm Pacific time.
