PORTLAND, Ore. – The Bushnell volleyball team rolled to another solid Cascade Collegiate Conference victory on Saturday evening, sweeping Warner Pacific University, 25-16, 25-19, 25-13.
Â
The Beacons (15-9, 10-6 CCC) hit .263Â in the match and out-blocked the Knights 10-5 as they move back up into fourth-place in the CCC and just a half-game out of third. Â
Â
Head Coach
Jason Corwin said, "It was a good performance overall tonight. Things got a little dicey in the second set but we responded well in the third and slowed down their attack."
Â
Senior
Jessica Northcutt was the story for the Beacons offensively. Coming into the night needing just three kills to hit 500 in her career, she finished with a match-high 15, hitting .333 with eight digs and two service aces. She is the fourth Beacon hitter this season to break the 500-kill milestone, and 12th in school history. "It was nice to see Jess hit the milestone with a really good overall performance," said Corwin. "She had some dominant swings at the net tonight."
Â
Northcutt added, "The team played great in every position this weekend. It was great to see everyone come together and contribute. I am so proud of Chloe for killing it in the middle tonight!"
Â
Chloe Kurahara got a spot-start at middle blocker on Saturday and made the most of it, hitting .571 with four kills along with four blocks. Another spot start went to
Bella Parque (pictured), who suited up at Libero. The Sophomore led the team with 13 digs, and added a pair of service aces and three assists.
Â
Parque said, "Our dynamic as a team was full of high energy, great plays, and determination. We played hard tonight and held each other accountable for the goals we set for this match. We are ready for next weekend!"
Â
The Beacons will be back home on Friday night to take on Oregon Tech at 7:00 pm. On Saturday at 7:00, they will play host to Southern Oregon, the team currently occupying third-place in the CCC.
