Beacons Drop Road Contest to Lions

PORTLAND, Ore.  – The Bushnell University women's soccer team scored an early goal in Saturday's match at Multnomah University but were unable to hold the lead as the Lions scored twice in the second half to come away with the Cascade Collegiate Conference victory.

Emily Puita scored her first goal of the season for Bushnell (0-10, 0-5 CCC) in the 14th minute of play off an assist from Dejah Wallot. The Beacons were awarded a penalty kick with under 10 minutes to go before the break but were unable to convert.

Valeria Castro scored the equalizer for Multnomah (2-7, 1-4 CCC) just before the 56-minute mark to make it a 1-1 game. The Lions went on to hold the Beacons to just one shot through the remainder of the match. Mercedes Kirton, who assisted on the game-tying goal, put in the match-winner with just under 10 minutes on the clock to give the Lions their first CCC win of the season.

Multnomah finished the match with a 11-9 advantage in shots, 7-4 on goal, and a 10-5 margin in corner kicks.

The Beacons were led by three shots apiece from Puita and Wallot.

Coming up, Bushnell travels to Northwest (Oct. 7) and Evergreen (Oct. 8).
