Â
That mark broke the previous record of .521, set against Evergreen in 2008, a span of 14 years. Bushnell also came close to another record as they posted 17 service aces, the most since setting a record with 19 against Multnomah in 2012.
Â
Bushnell dominated the match from start to finish, putting together numerous double-digit runs. At one point in the second set,
Jessica Northcutt rattled off six straight service aces. She finished with nine in the match while
Callie Wilkins earned six.
Â
A broad swath of Beacons contributed offensively, led by
Brooke Silvernail who came in for just the third set and finished a perfect 7-for-7 on attack attempts.
Payton Jones (.545) and
Shay Coons (.500) also had seven kills for the Beacons.
Makenna Northern earned a match-high 29 assists while Wilkins finished with a match-leading 11 digs.
Â
Walla Walla (0-11, 0-11 CCC) was led by the sister duo of Gabrielle and Sahara Browning, who saw 42 of the teams 66 swings, posting 18 combined kills. Sahara Browning also led the team with four digs and two aces.
Â
The Beacons close out the first half of the CCC slate with a record of 9-7 overall and 7-4 in the CCC. They find themselves in a three-way tie for third-place in the conference with Southern Oregon and Evergreen State.
Â
The second trip through the circuit starts off on the toughest possible note as Bushnell will travel to La Grande next Friday night to take on Eastern Oregon University. The Mounties are undefeated in conference play, 18-1 overall with an 18-match winning streak, and are ranked No. 1 in the NAIA national coaches poll.
