LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University women's soccer team continued a long shutout streak on Friday, keeping their sixth straight opponent off the scoreboard as they defeated Bushnell, 5-0.
Â
The Mounties (6-1, 3-0 CCC), currently ranked No. 13 in the NAIA coaches poll, scored early and often, and finished the night with a 25-9 advantage in shots.
Â
Bushnell (2-5, 0-2) was not without their chances to score on Friday. The team had six corner kicks, one more than EOU, and collected four shots on goal include three from
Karla Cardinal. In addition, the team was awarded an early penalty kick opportunity that went wide.
"It was an encouraging and frustrating night for us," said head coach
Benny Flores. "We played really well in the first half and had the opportunity to go up but couldn't capitalize. Eastern, being the great team that they are, took advantage of their chances. We didn't play well in the second half and Eastern reminded us what they are ranked so high."
Â
The Beacons will look to rebound on Saturday as they travel to face The College of Idaho (6-2, 3-0), who have posted five straight shutouts.
