Oakerman At It Again at Willamette

SALEM, Ore. – Logan Oakerman continued his season to remember on Thursday, once again breaking both his shot put and discus school records as he won both events at the Willamette-Bushnell Dual.

On his fifth throw of the shot put competition, Oakerman added more than four feet to his school record, landing at 14.43 meters. All four of his completed attempts actually surpassed his previous record of 13.16 meters. In the discus, he broke his record twice and closed with a heave of 45.67 meters. He now ranks third in the Cascade Collegiate Conference for both events.

The men, who won the Dual meet 54-48, were busy collecting six other event victories. Prince Harris and Justin Rogers combined for three uncontested titles while Jaron Carter won the 100m and Hunter Reininger won the 200m.

The men's 4x400m relay team of Josh McCluskey, Carter, Shawn Johnson, and Reininger was also victorious, missing a season-best time by just over one tenth of a second.

The Beacon women were defeated in the dual meet, 51-33 but still claimed a handful of titles.

Jenae Usselman beat out four Bearcats to win the discus as she tossed her first attempt 33.99 meters. Usselman also claimed an uncontested javelin victory. Adrienne Mai was victorious in both the 100m and 200m events and the 4x400 meter relay team  of Jordyn Edewards, Mai, Carina Haas and Sarah Philips took nearly two seconds off their season-best time with a run of 4:19.61 to win by 15 seconds.

Haas (long jump) and Sierra Janikowski (400m hurdles) also brought home uncontested wins.

The Beacons will be back in Eugene for their next event, competing at the Lane CC Titan Invitational on April 16-17.
