Beacons Power Past Knights, 89-83

EUGENE, Ore. – Ernest Ugoagu and Stevie Schlabach combined for 48 points and the Beacons held on for an 89-83 victory over Warner Pacific University on Friday night.

Bushnell (3-4, 3-4 CCC) shot 52% in the game and out-rebounded the Knights 38-36 to end a brief two-game losing streak. Warner Pacific (3-6, 2-3) shot 48% in the game.

The Beacons were led by Ugoagu, hitting four three-pointers as he scored 29 points. Schlabach shot 67% from the field and added 19 points. Luke Burke and Kaden Sand scored ten apiece as Burke led the Beacons with four assists and a game-high three steals. Junior Dillon Young put in 33 minutes off action off the bench on Friday, scoring a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Head Coach Eddie Alexander said, "Dillon stepped up big tonight off the bench and I am really proud of him. Ernest had to step up with Stevie in some foul trouble and then the both carried us in moments after Logan was knocked out of the game. Our team defense has been a struggle but we are seeing glimpses of improvement."

Warner Pacific was led by Isaac Etter, scoring 28 points. Miles Brown added 19 while Drew Magaoay scored 17 points with a game-high eight assists. The Knights also had a double-double from the bench with Christian Hodge scoring ten points and 13 rebounds.

Bushnell and WPU will be back in action on Saturday, playing the back-end of the two-game series at 3:00 pm on Dave Lipp Court.
