Warner Pacific Claims Overtime Victory

EUGENE, Ore. – Warner Pacific scored 20 points in overtime, pulling out a 90-86 victory over Bushnell on Saturday to salvage a Cascade Collegiate Conference series split.

The Knights (4-6, 3-3 CCC) played a clean game with just 11 turnovers, while forcing the Beacons into 22 giveaways, countering a Bushnell 49% shooting night. WPU shot just 43% and both teams combined to hit just ten three-pointers on 40 attempts.

Head Coach Eddie Alexander said, "We didn't lose because of a single mistake tonight, but a culmination of many. We had too many turnovers or missed defensive assignments. Our guys always fight and always give their best. I give Warner Pacific credit for taking advantage of our mistakes."

The Beacons (3-5, 3-5) were led by Stevie Schlabach(pictured), scoring 26 points along with six rebounds. "Stevie was big for us today," said Alexander, "not just in scoring but in his execution offensively and defensively. He continues to prove himself to be one of the top players in our conference."

Logan Sand came off the bench to score 16 while Dillon Young had another incredible night off the pine with 12 points and a game-high nine rebounds. He also led the team with three steals and three assists. Ernest Ugoagu added 13 points and seven rebounds while Kaden Sand scored nine points and seven boards. Bushnell out-rebounded Warner Pacific, 44-37.

Six of Warner Pacific's seven-man rotation ended their night in double-digits, led by 17 apiece from Drew Magaoay and Christian Hodge.  Miles Brown scored 14  while Kaleb Tompkins and Kadeem Strickland each scored 12 points and four assists.

The Beacons will stay in Eugene next weekend, taking on Eastern Oregon University in their final home games of the season. The teams will tip-off at 6:00 pm on Friday night and 3:00 pm on Saturday.
