Warriors Win CCC Opener

EUGENE, Ore.  – The Bushnell University women's soccer team opened up the Cascade Collegiate Conference schedule against Corban University on Sunday afternoon with the visitors taking a 3-0 victory.
 
Corban (1-1, 1-0 CCC) owned a 21-4 advantage in shot attempts and had nine shots on goal, keeping Beacon keeper Makenna Hadaller busy as she made six saves. Devan Archer grabbed four saves en route to the shutout victory for the Warriors.
 
The teams played to a scoreless halftime, but Corban came on strong over the final half. Mei Suetsugu opened up the scoring in the 52nd minute off an assist from Chanel Garcia. In the 70th minute it was Jamine Biava scoring, unassisted.
 
Klarissa Barajas took a pass from Hailey Hickman in the 89th minute to tack on the late insurance goal.
 
Bushnell Head Coach Benny Flores said, "I am really proud of the ladies. We have some injuries and sickness and we were not at full strength and the team came out played really hard against a quality opponent. I am really excited to see what our team will look like at full strength."
 
Bushnell (0-4, 0-1) will host Corban once again on Monday, with kickoff scheduled for 4:30 pm.
