SPRINGFIELD, Ore.  – The Bushnell University track & field teams made their debut over the weekend, competing in an in-house scrimmage as an opportunity to compete for the first time this spring.

For some, it was the first time competing in nearly two years.

As an in-house event, with no true collegiate competition, no times or marks from the event will be used toward post-season qualification, and marks cannot appear in the Bushnell record book, although two such standards were threatened.

On the women's side,
Carina Haas made her Pole Vault debut a good one, clearing 3.04 meters. Her mark would have broken the standing Bushnell school record by nearly a foot.

For the men,
Logan Oakerman had a strong start to his senior season, surpassing his own school-record in the shot put with a heave of 13.06 meters. He cleared his previous best by over two feet.

One of the highlights of the event was the men's "sprints vs. distance" 4x800m relay. The sprinters came out on top as a senior-laden team of
Nicolas Delgado,
Josh McCluskey, and
Shawn Johnson was joined by sprint coach
Chris Stubbs to run it in 8 minutes, 53.3 seconds. Senior
Carson Bain led the second-place distance team, which also featured
Gabe Fatooh, Chris Rosebrook, and
Kilano Loyd, to a 9:16.00 time.

On the women's side it was a pair of distance crews taking part with the team of Kuskie,
Aneykah McCall,
Victoria Messer, and Sky Urban (11:02.6) beating out
Tea Chatelain,
Kaitlin Cook,
Jordyn Edewards, and
Kennedy Larson (11.13.7).
