SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – 15 months and two days after last taking the pitch, the Bushnell women's soccer team returned to action on Wednesday night, falling to Simpson University, 2-0 at the Les Schwab Sports Complex. It was the season opener for both schools.
"It was great to just be out playing again," said second-year head coach
Benny Flores. "I was proud of how hard this team played. The score was not a true picture of the game. We did some good things and there are some things we saw that we can continue to work on. I am excited to see where our team is going to go. Our goal is to stay the path and walk it together as a team."

The Beacons were out-shot 10-7 in the contest as
Makenna Hadaller collected two saves.
Aracely Marks,
Amanda Whetten, and
Sierra Coloma each took a shot-on-goal.
Â
The Red Hawks got on the board late in the first half as Caroline Forseth collected the rebound off a shot from Paulina Diaz Segovia that had caromed off the left post. Then, in the 69th minute, Emma Nichols fired a free kick from 25 yards and found the upper portion of the net for the insurance strike.
