Linfield Shuts out Beacons, 4-0

McMINNVILLE, Ore.  – Having had their previous three contests cancelled due to opponent or weather issues, the Bushnell women's soccer team hit the road for the first time in 2021 and couldn't come out with a victory as they fell to Linfield College on Tuesday night, 4-0.

The Wildcats out-shot Bushnell 23-4 and held the Beacons to just one shot attempt in the second half as they protected their early lead. Linfield had scored in the seventh and 18th minutes to establish the advantage they would keep. Two goals were added in the second half, one early and one late.

Makenna Hadaller was busy in goal for the Beacons (0-2) making six saves. Aracely Marks, Amanda Whetten, Dejah Wallot, and Kalei Snell made shot attempts for the Beacons.

Head Coach Benny Flores said, 'First off, it was a victory just getting on the field and playing. I am really proud of the hard work the ladies put in tonight. We are getting better. My goal for the preseason games is to fine tune our game before the CCC season.

"We are learning what we do well and what we need to work on and the team is learning that the road to greatness is challenging. I know that this group of women are willing to put in the hard work to be great, and I am looking forward to see what we will look like at the end of the year."

Bushnell will return to action next Sunday, traveling to Portland to face Lewis & Clark College at 3:00 pm for a game that had originally been scheduled for Valentine's Day before the winter storm rolled through the northern half of the state.
